Voltaire gets Imprisoned


May 16, 1717, satirical writer, Voltaire, is imprisoned in the Bastille. Though critics embraced him the government was not pleased with his satirical attacks on religion and politics. (I guess he didn’t know those are the 2 things you shouldn’t talk about) After a year in prison, he was released. One might think he’d change his ways, but in 1726 he was forced to flee France for once again ticking off the establishment. Imagine what he would have said on social media...
